The Government is Still Gaslighting About Employment
President of the United States Joe Biden is certainly a character. Perhaps you're a big fan of his and voted for him. Maybe you just voted against that "former guy." Or perhaps you do not like the current President at all. Regardless of where you stand on America's current Commander-in-Chief, there's an odd, scary, yet still somewhat hilarious fact about Biden that not a lot of people mention often. He is rated as the "biggest liar" in political office, in America's entire history. Yes, you read that correctly; in the entire history of the United States, and its many politicians, Joe Biden is rated as the biggest liar of all time. He has lied about college, his grades, plagiarized speeches, military service, and on and on. No one disputes this. It's either people say they don't care because he's not Donald Trump, or they just ignore it mainly. Though when it comes to unemployment figures in the United States, this is an area where President Biden cannot seem to stop lying. He utterly refuses to speak the truth about unemployment.
Every single time Joe Biden gives a speech, there is something he talks about that is a demonstrable lie. Throughout his entire career, however, no one has called him to the carpet for telling these lies. Now that the man is in his 80s, it's impossible to tell if he's doing it on purpose or if he's just reading words that other people write. All that can be said is that America is dealing with its largest labor shortage in history, and unemployment is at least three times higher than what this administration claims. Even still, President Biden says it in a speech, and the corporate media members fall over themselves in order to repeat the lie. This week's lie: Unemployment claims drop to their lowest number in 15 weeks, even with record interest rates.
Why is this a lie? Well, the observable facts (that can be quickly looked up) state that unemployment claims are being denied at the highest rates in history. So, it's not that fewer people are filing unemployment claims; it's that fewer unemployment claims are being accepted. When an unemployed individual cannot get their claim granted to receive unemployment checks, the government no longer counts this person as unemployed. Therefore, you're left with a system that is very beneficial to the government. As long as more and more claims keep being denied, the government can tell you that unemployment rates are very low, and the corporate media will parrot these talking points.
There are many reasons that unemployment claims are being denied, and it doesn't necessarily have to be nefarious. No one is claiming that this administration is embroiled in some vast government plot to deny Americans unemployment payments just to claim better numbers for the economy. Cynical, critical people might point out that the American government experimented on African Americans with STDs and killed a sitting president in the '60s, so this would be light work for them. Though speaking logically, it might not be nefarious.
If a person has been on unemployment too long, their claim will be denied. If they were fired from a job, their claim will be denied. If they voluntarily quit, their claim will be denied. So there could be many reasons for denied claims. All that can be said for certain is the government is lying by twisting the end result of those denied claims. Plenty of people are filing for money; they're just not receiving it.
There's a Method to the Madness
For a lot of Americans, they think it's pure madness to not actually give unemployed people payments, but there is a reason behind this that may not be overtly political. Unemployment is one of the most abused assistance programs the government runs. Every single year, billions of dollars are stolen by people gaming the system, and therefore the system has to be set up with some sorts of safeguards to stop that fraud from happening. This is why there's a very narrow window of acceptance in order to receive unemployment benefits. That is a separate issue.
The real issue at hand here is that the American federal government is demonstrably lying to people about the unemployment figures, and they're doing so by twisting the results of the unemployment claims system. No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, you have to admit that this is a very underhanded thing to do.
